Here's what a former student had to say about Bates: ----- Bates - it's only when cared for that a flower flourishes...or some such crunchy saying....anyway, speaking of crunchy, I found you to be the first granola-free, down to earth, straight from the hip acting instructor I've ever had the pleasure of learning from (ACTUALLY learning - right out of the gate, instead of spending time interpreting, scratching my poor, tired, bleached-out head) ...you speak the same language as (most of) the class, your lessons peppered with halarity, honesty, real industry experience, and patience only a father of four could hold, made the whole experience so gratifying, that i'm retaking scene study next session... -----
