Intermediate Actors
Scene Study for Film & TV
Bates Wilder

This is a basic scene study class which can incorporate all of the many different types of scenes you may encounter working in TV and film. All people with a good Basic acting background are invited to attend. You will be given a simple scene when you arrive at the first class. After week one you will be asked to bring in your own favorite scene from any piece you like, (so start looking now!) Each scene will be worked for 20 minutes to a half hour depending on class size. You will work with a different actor or actors each week and be asked to memorize and put effort into each scene you have agreed to work on. This is a fun yet hard working class. Bates has a bit of an edge to him and has been known for his honesty. If you are willing to listen to pointed critique then this class is for you.

Students are welcome, and encouraged to repeat this course.

Prerequisite: Basics of Acting,
*OR* equivalent ACTING experience/courses from other institutions.

He splits his time working as an actor in New England and New York City.

Here's what a former student had to say about Bates:

-----

Bates - it's only when cared for that a flower flourishes...or some such crunchy saying....anyway, speaking of crunchy, I found you to be the first granola-free, down to earth, straight from the hip acting instructor I've ever had the pleasure of learning from (ACTUALLY learning - right out of the gate, instead of spending time interpreting, scratching my poor, tired, bleached-out head) ...you speak the same language as (most of) the class, your lessons peppered with halarity, honesty, real industry experience, and patience only a father of four could hold, made the whole experience so gratifying, that i'm retaking scene study next session...
