Getting Started
in the Business of Acting
-- in BOSTON --
Carolyn Pickman

Show Business is a business. Any career in acting depends on talent, dedication, and the willingness to pursue the dream with enthusiasm. Like any business, there is a way to approach getting a job, and tools of the trade that will help. This four hour workshop is designed for actors who are ready to learn: What is the work? Where is the work? & How to get an acting job in commercials, movies, and educational videos.
This seminar will give you the tools of the trade necessary to manage your acting career. The primary focus is on work in the New England market, but work in New York, and Los Angeles will also be discussed. Topics covered will include: a good picture and resume, auditioning, marketing, networking, job expectations, and getting paid for your work.

Where's the work? What are the jobs? How do I start an Acting career? Is this a good choice for me? Get a better understanding of what it takes to land a job in films, commercials, and corporate videos. Scripted material will be handed out and (willing!) participants will be videotaped with critique and pointers to follow.
