Advanced Actors
On-Camera Auditioning
Carolyn Pickman

Simply put: "This course teaches techniques to help the actor book the job." Actual audition material from television commercials, corporate videos, and film scripts will be used and actors will be videotaped in a mock audition setting at each class. Students will review the videos and learn to prepare, and adjust their performances for the camera, take direction, and gain the confidence that shows prospective employers that you can handle the job. Carolyn walks you through auditioning step-by-step, pointing out the pitfalls to avoid and showing you ways to stand out above the rest... How to interact with directors while auditioning, how to take direction without being thrown, how to isolate your weaknesses and focus on your strengths while receiving all the necessary details for script reading, how to "polish" your read to REALLY be competitive for on-camera auditions. You will learn what will put you above the rest to start booking work. (You will also learn what NOT to do!) Get an insider's valuable critique as Carolyn shows you what industry pros look for. Students are welcome, and encouraged to repeat this course, different material is always added.

Here's what some former students have said about this class:

-----

"After 10 years in Los Angeles, audtioning and taking acting classes, I moved home to Boston. I have learned more in 6 weeks taking this class with Carolyn than all I learned in Los Angeles. I wish I met Carolyn years ago...Thank you for better preparing me for my next audition."

-----

"In spite all the acting training and experience I may have for the stage, I have never felt nearly as confident in on-camera situations. Going on auditions all the time is good practice and experience, but unless you know what mistakes you are making, or what more you can be doing, there is little chance for improvement."

-----

I took the on-camera audition class with Carolyn and found it to be very helpful. I appreciate that actual scripts were used, and her feedback on our performances though direct was both honest, specific and practical.

-----

Thank you again for class. I feel that I now have some real auditioning skills, as well as an understanding of what I need to work on and develop further. Your insight and experience within the casting world makes you unique among acting teachers. I also appreciated your ability to give such specific individual feedback.
And, I had fun!

-----

"College didn't prepare me for the real world of auditioning, but with your support and advice I felt better about myself and my talent...and was able to build a good resume in a short time."

-----

"Your class not only trained me to approach an audition with the right attitude and technique, but also confidence. I am highly recommending your classes to every actor I know."

-----

"The insight and feedback you gave was very helpful in better preparing me to audition, and to develop the awareness for the unexpected as well. I believe taking this class was instrumental in landing two recent jobs: a DVD feature this coming spring, and an internet training video I did this past weekend. Having the skills and confidence to take the material given to me during these auditions, and making them work, has increased my competitive abilities as an actor."
