NESSON MEDIA BOSTON is casting for a DVD series designed to teach English as a second language to students in Asia and Latin America. You do NOT have to speak any other language, in fact good English is preferred.
The scenes are sketch comedy-style vignettes with the grammar/teaching points embedded into the action/dialogue. They are seeking a variety of ethnicities and age ranges (see below).
Production begins September 15, 2010 and runs to approximately October 26th.
Given the nature of this project, line/scene memorization and sticking closely to the language in the script is a key requirement.
This is well paid work.
We are holding a casting call in the Boston area for these roles this Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, Aug. 30th-Sept 1st. 9:30AM-5PM each day. So you must submit your info. soon!

ON SEPTEMBER 4 & 5
This intensive, 3-part, 9-hour workshop is designed to provide a complete experience of creating a film performance while revealing the secrets of how to best make the filmmaking process work for the actor. Part one focuses on the choice making process and how the actor guides him or her self into the text. The scenes are shot during part two: the work is fast and rigorous, two takes per scene, one close-up per actor. in part three the the footage is viewed and critqued with both a directors and editor's eye.
You booked the part!
....now what?
How to make the most of the guest-star experience.
WHEN SHUTTER ISLAND comes to Boston...
...the Leo DeCaprio role is already cast. And when you travel to NYC for that Law & Order Casting Workshop, they're not looking to replace Jeff Goldblum. But the roles we ARE casting for are (or should be) just as important to you.
Your acting career is a marathon, not a sprint. Incremental steps are the key-- and for most actors, guest star and co-star roles on television, and supporting roles in film, are the most important leaps forward you will make. How well you do in these roles, and how you prepare for them, is critical.
PETER KELLEY has spent the last year on the sets of both Dollhouse and NCIS-LA as an on-set acting coach; during that time, he's watched and coached dozens of actors in roles ranging from a couple of lines to significant, center-of-story guest star roles. Some actors thrive, others stumble - either way, it leaves a lasting impression on the very people the actor wants to build relationships with.
Peter brings that knowledge to a weekend workshop designed for the experienced actor who wants to be immersed in the complete experience of receiving material, prepping it, and shooting it in the compressed time frame encountered in a network television or studio film environment. Class size is limited; each actor will be able to prep, rehearse, and shoot material similar to what they'll encounter in the guest star role.
As a result, when you do book the role you'll know what's expected and will be able to walk on the set with confidence.
ARE YOU CAMERA READY?
"The opportunity for Local Actors to be cast in first rate films and TV shows is growing at an exciting level. At C.P. Casting we hire from 10-30 local speaking parts for each project we cast. Local actors are being asked to step into roles that traditionally have been saved for LA and NYC talent who professionally study for years to land these parts. With these jobs, often comes a chance to join SAG or AFTRA. Don't get left behind --- I enthusiastically recommend Peter Kelly's Acting workshop to help you improve and understand your craft." -- Carolyn Pickman

Tom recalls working with Clint Eastwood: "“Clint doesn’t say ‘Action’ or ‘Cut.’ He’ll say ‘Okay’ or ‘All right,’” Kemp explained. “My first day on the set, I had a few lines. Kevin Bacon and Laurence Fishburne walk up to the car and talk to some of the cops, I meet them, we walk and talk as we approach the car. We do it once and Clint says, ‘I’ve changed a couple of tiny things. I’ve changed the framing, I’ve changed when the conversation comes in.’ And he changed the side from which I came in. He was composing the shot without changing the performances. The scene ends with Laurence and I on one side of the car and Kevin on the other. And Clint says, ‘All right, let’s move on.’ And Fishburne turns to me and says, ‘What the hell just happened?’ He’d just flown in from Australia where he’d just spent two years doing the MATRIX movies where he said they’d have 36 takes before lunch. Then they’d come back from lunch and do it again. You realize that if Eastwood’s got it; he’s got it and he just moves on. Usually it’s about two takes.”
